New research from Freedom on the Net has warned that rapid advancements in AI are increasing the spread of disinformation online. The report from the American non-profit also highlighted how AI is growing as a threat to human rights by enabling governments to “enhance and refine online censorship.”

US senators investigate personnel changes at TikTok
In a new wave of scrutiny for TikTok, US Senators are investigating recent staff transfers from parent company, ByteDance. In a letter to TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, Senators Marsha Blackburn and Richard Blumenthal stated that personnel changes at the firm have raised suspicions that it is "attempting to preserve ByteDance’s influence over TikTok while avoiding suspicion”.
