Analyses regarding Privacy Sandbox made quite a splash in our digest news this week. The IAB Tech Lab released its final analysis, concluding that the solution in its current state would greatly restrict the digital media industry and place smaller media companies and brands at risk. Similarly, Index Exchange confirmed the solution’s limited testing scope, with overall impressions and spend remaining limited, as well as a worrisome effect on CPMs. Index Exchange’s testing also concluded that the solution is not helping sufficiently with its current scale and level of adoption.
In the antitrust arena, Meta was put under the microscope as a result of its “pay of consent” advertising model. The European Commission informed the social giant that it was the second company (following Apple) to be found in breach of the Digital Markets Act.
In the UK streaming landscape, a new competitor arrived on the scene. Tubi – acquired by Fox in 2020 – launched with a catalogue of over 20,000 films and TV episodes. The service is available on all major CTV platforms, as well as through a mobile app and via web browser.
