YouTube TV Viewership Exceeds Mobile for First Time 

TV has surpassed mobile and is now the primary device for YouTube viewing in the US by watch time, the video giant revealed on Tuesday in its official blog. On average, viewers are consuming over one billion hours of YouTube content on TVs every single day. This includes shorts, livestreams, and podcasts. Ironically for a medium which began as audio only, podcasts are also thriving on the platform: in the US, YouTube has become the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts.

UK and US Refuse to Sign Declaration for Inclusive and Sustainable AI  

The UK and US both refused to sign a declaration on “inclusive and sustainable” AI at the Paris AI summit on Tuesday. The document was backed by sixty signatories, with countries including China, Japan, Australia, and Canada. Although no reasons were immediately provided for their decision to withhold signatures, Kier Starmer’s official spokesperson stated that the UK would “only ever sign up to initiatives that are in UK national interests”. A government source also said that the declaration failed to reflect the UK’s approach on AI, and that it was not strong enough on security. They rejected the idea that the UK was solely copying the US’ stance; meanwhile at the summit, US vice-president JD Vance criticised Europe’s heavy regulation of the technology.
