Odeeo Secures USD$9m (£7.5m) Investment to Grow In-game Audio Advertising

on 14th Jun 2022 inToday (June 14th, 2022) we are announcing that Odeeo raised a USD$9m (£7.5m) seed round backed by some of the most strategic investors within the mobile gaming and audio advertising industries. Additionally, we’re pleased to announce the creation of a strategic advisory board that will advise our company as we continue to develop our next-generation in-game audio advertising platform.
The round was led by Play Ventures, the leading early-stage gaming VC and Global, one of the world’s leading Media and Entertainment groups (Europe’s largest radio company). It also includes gaming founders and angel investors such as Eric Seufert (Heracles Capital), Anton Gauffin (founder of Huuuge Games), Christian Calderon (founder of GameJam) and Lior Shiff (founder of TripleDot Studios), bringing our total investment to date to USD$10m (£8.3m).
Alongside these investors, we're also welcoming Noam Yasour to our advisory board. Most recently, Noam served as MoPub’s global head of publisher platform, leading one of the top mobile monetisation platforms in the space. Noam brings over 20 years of experience in managing and scaling global commercial teams and will be a tremendous resource to the Odeeo leadership team, strengthening our ability to apply audio tech to drive customer engagement and revenue growth.
Aside from showing their confidence in our vision and strategy, it also marks a shift in the audio ad and mobile gaming industries. A new ad format is emerging, one that moves away from the disruptive full-screen ads of the past, and focuses on providing an uninterrupted gameplay experience
With more than 500 games directly integrated into our platform and with growing adoption of hundreds of advertisers actively bidding on our inventory, we are confident that in-game audio advertising is shaping into a leading ad format and excited about what the future holds.
Our technology enables brands and studios to use audio adverts along with visual elements in a game for the first time, generating above industry standards click-through rates of 2.5% and higher for brands and an overall revenue increase of 10% and higher for game studios.
Audio ads don’t disrupt gameplay, and allow for developers to improve their top-line revenue, all while letting brands reach over a third of the world through one of the fastest-growing channels.
We’ve seen huge interest in our unique offering as more brands realise the immense potential within the intersection of audio ads and mobile games. In-game audio allows advertisers to take their campaigns to new heights outside of the standard audio environments (radio, streaming, podcasts etc.) and engage with a highly diverse and attentive audience.
The investment will allow us to connect more brands and developers together, and will make it much easier for studios to take the plunge and adopt this new model.
We will continue focusing on bringing the best in-class audio tech to our partners, providing new product features and constantly pushing the boundaries of audio’s different strengths and abilities. We foresee an entirely new category of digital audio advertising built and optimised specifically for the gaming sphere within a few years. And as Odeeo, we plan to be at the forefront of that development.
