Last week, Hulu on Disney+ launched in the US under the Disney Bundle subscription option. The merger has brought together the extensive libraries of Hulu and Disney+. Both apps will remain as standalone offerings, but Disney+ subscribers will now see the Hulu experience in the app. The Disney+ logo has been changed to a dark turquoise colour, merging the blue and green colours from each companies’ original logos.
Meanwhile in Europe, Sony Pictures Entertainment will be launching a portfolio of free-ad-supported streaming (FAST) channels on LG Channels, Samsung TV Plus, and TiVo+. Launching in April, the channels across the region will be curated and planned for each territory, being broadcasted mainly in each country’s native language. With 54 channels, it will be one of the largest portfolios of FAST channels.
In the social sphere, LinkedIn is testing a video feed in its app, which appears on the bottom navigation bar under a new “Video” tab. The tab contains a vertical feed of short-form videos which can be swiped through, in the style of TikTok. No details have been shared yet regarding the algorithm used to determine video order. LinkedIn says this experiment tests a new way for users to discover relevant videos, with video being one of users’ most desired formats for learning from professionals and experts.
