A deal signed on Wednesday sees PwC become OpenAI’s largest customer, and the first reseller of its flagship product, ChatGPT. The AI company launched ChatGPT’s enterprise tier in August 2023, with the objective of monetising its generative AI products on the back of the millions it has raised. The enterprise tier offers increased speed and more flexibility for building customised models, as well as access to more analytics and other tools.
Elsewhere, the US Court of Appeals for Washington DC has set a fast-track schedule to consider the legal challenges to the law which will ban TikTok in the country unless sold by China-based parent company ByteDance. The court has ordered the case to be heard in September; this follows a request from the Justice Department earlier this month asking the court for a quick schedule (a month ahead of the expected time).
In the retail media space, a forecaster by eMarketer predicts US in-store retail media spend to top USD $1bn (£785m) by 2028 while making up less than 1% of total omnichannel retail media ad spend. An overwhelming 99% of retail media ad spend is expected to take place online, however most retail sales will take place in physical stores. Despite the enormous surge in online shopping in recent years, the majority of US retail sales still currently take place in physical stores.
