Today’s news: Fubo Launches New CTV Ad Format; Roku Enters UK Retail Media Partnership; Meta’s Latest EU Compliance Updates

Leading sports streaming platform Fubo has launched a new CTV ad format for branded video content – The Triple Play – bringing more to the table for advertisers. The feature displays ads on the home screen of Fubo’s CTV platform, allowing marketers to position themselves alongside particular content. It includes a branded banner and a custom content carousel, as well as a clickable branded content video which has the option of containing a QR code.

That’s not all for CTV-related news: TV platform Roku has struck a partnership with Currys Connected Media, the company’s retail media network which launched last year. The deal will give Currys and its partners access to ad inventory from Roku Media, allowing them to reach customers across all of its streaming devices in the UK. Ads will be served via a third-party demand-side platform, and targeted using a combination of first-party data from Roku and insights from the retailer.

Meanwhile, Meta is making moves in an effort to adhere to the Digital Markets Act. To increase operability between messaging services as requested by the EU, Meta has made changes to Whatsapp and Messenger. It has “built new notifications into WhatsApp and Messenger that inform users about third-party chats” and “will remind users each time a new third-party messaging app becomes available.” With the new updates, Meta also gives users the option to combine their inboxes to show messages from different platforms in the same place (this can also be reversed at any time). Additionally, it has designed an onboarding flow through which users can learn more about third-party apps they want to receive messages from.
