New readership figures from Taboola show that BBC reality TV show The Traitors amassed huge reader interest following its final episode generating more than 1.2m news article page views across the finale weekend.

This follows the news that the final episode of the show, which aired on Friday night, was watched live by an audience of 7.4m viewers. This year’s final episodes included a dramatic twist that drove much of the reader interest, with one contestant granted the power of the ‘Seer’ – a role which allowed them to discover the identity of any one other contestant.

The programme’s popularity has been a boost for host Claudia Winkleman. Articles about Winkleman generated just under 2m page views since the show launched its third series on January 1st. The host’s popularity is compounded by her other major TV role as co-presenter of Strictly Come Dancing, which remains the one of the most read-about British television programmes this month despite the most recent series concluding in December.

More than a month after its 2024 finale, news articles about Strictly Come Dancing continue to attract readers and eclipse the popularity of other TV shows. In the weeks between the 13th and the 27th of January, articles about the programme generated 2.1m page views, in comparison to 1.8m for The Traitors.

Dave Struzzi, communications lead, Taboola said: “With the victors of The Traitors 2025 finally revealed, the show has certainly won the attention of the nation. Each year, the programme manages to kindle public interest with new personalities, new twists, and new dramas.

“However, it’s interesting to see that, even during this surge of interest for the Traitors, readership numbers are higher for Strictly – proving that the popular dance show remains the nation’s favourite fix for reality TV.”
