Trump Extends TikTok Sale Deadline Again
President Trump has extended the TikTok sale deadline for the second time, with the date having arrived before the video platform had divested its US operations from Chinese-owned parent company ByteDance. Trump intends to sign another executive order, delaying the sale deadline by another 75 days. On his Truth Social platform, Trump said that the deal “requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed”.
Meta’s Fact Checking in US Ends Today
Today, Meta’s fact-checking programme will come to an end for all US users. Instead, its new Community Notes model - inspired by Elon Musk’s X - will start rolling out. Community Notes will gradually start appearing across Meta’s platforms: Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. The change, which left many shocked, was announced back in January. Meta started testing Community Notes on 18th March.
