by Mathew Broughton on 31st Jan 2020 in Podcast
On this week’s episode of The MadTech Podcast, ExchangeWire’s Ciaran O'Kane and Lindsay Rowntree are joined by Vincent Flood, editor, Video Ad News, to discuss the latest news in ad tech and martech.
On this week's episode:
- A study conducted by IAB Europe suggests that 93.8% of marketers use blacklisting techniques in attempts to promote brand safety. Concurrently, a report published by the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore in conjunction with CHEQ has determined that UK newspaper publishers are missing out on £167m in revenue due to over-zealous keyword blacklisting on "safe" content.
- Dating app Grindr has been used in a cross-device ad fraud scheme which tricked marketers into believing they were bidding on Roku CTV inventory.
- Facebook has released its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2019. Full-year revenue was up 27% year-on-year to USD$55bn (£42bn) and, despite numerous public scandals regarding the firm's use of data, the number of monthly active users increased by 8% to reach 2.5 billion across Facebook, Instagram, and/or Whatsapp.
